Description:

In an applied, exercise-based context, this course introduces practicing catalogers to metatdata implementation considerations and processes in a digital library development context. During the course attendees explore the following topics: the uses of the digital library; digital consideration for current collections: selection and collection building; metadata considerations: access, storage, preservation and rights management; standards issues: metadata and content standards; preservation and archiving; Internet and Web technology; and planning the digital project.

Intended Audience:

The workshop is ideal for practicing catalogers who want to prepare to serve as metadata specialists in digital library projects.
