Description:
Scholarly communications is one of the hottest topics in libraries today. Many librarians who discuss scholarly communications focus only on publishing, but is this right thing to do? In today's electronic environment, faculty are not only creating articles for publication, they are also creating data sets, charts and graphs, and learning objects. So, if we restrict our energies to creating repertoires that only collect, serve, and preserve preprints and post prints are we truly capturing the body of scholarly output on our campuses?
This class will cover the elements of the open access movement, scholarly communications, and digital repositories. It will also provide the participants with the tools they need to think and act strategically where born-digital materials are concerned.
Intended Audience:
Anyone interested in learning more about the open access movement and repositories.
