Disaster Support
SOLINET disaster planning, preparedness, and recovery resoures.
SOLINET offers 24/7 support to institutions that have suffered a disaster whether major or minor. Support is offered to institutions that have suffered damage from a hurricane, fire, tornado, or flood as well as damage from mold, a burst pipe or a leaky roof.
SOLINET's Disaster Assistance Service provides comprehensive information on disaster response any time of day, seven days a week. Services include referrals to conservators, specialized consultants, disaster recovery companies, and specific disaster recovery advice on collection materials.
To request disaster support, submit the online form or call SOLINET Preservation Field Services at 800.999.8558. After hours, you will be directed to an answering service; tell the operator you need to speak with someone from Preservation Field Services. A preservation expert will contact you as quickly as possible. Institutions in the continental United States can also request the assistance of volunteers to help in the response and recovery process.
To volunteer to help an institution recover from a disaster, submit the online form. Please note that filling out this form does not constitute a commitment; we understand that your ability to volunteer at any given time is based upon a variety of factors. Signing up on this list indicates that you or your institution is willing to provide funds to travel to areas affected by disasters. SOLINET cannot guarantee travel support.
Institutions can also donate freezer space to institutions in need. Under contact name, please list the institution name, and under type of assistance offered, list "freezer space."
